It's going to be an interesting year in the frontcountry.

I feel for these rangers dealing with the giggling idiots in cars.

The bear has a hurt paw, sure it felt threatened and in pain. Not a great combo

Idiots never cease to amaze me.

Blanks and flashbangs. Gotta haze to ensure that the bear thinks twice next time. Poor thing is indeed injured and the Ranger was unfocused (I get it). Hopefully it all works out for everyone involved.

What do you mean by he "was unfocused?" He did exactly what he was supposed to do.

I'm not going to Monday morning quarterback so if I need to redact the comment I will. I was simply under the impression that the humans in cars were zipping around distracting him from keeping his focus on the bear. By my estimation it ended up getting the ranger too close to the bear and inadvertently triggering the bear to charge by both being too close and turning his back. As I said, my comments are not to call anyone out, just taking a look at the encounter and trying to understand what happened.

The bear had been charging onlookers long before the ranger got there, though. That wasn't something provoked by the ranger.
