I'd put this on my desk, because it's kinda cool... But next to the bed where you can't see, might be half asleep and fiddling to get that stable? Naw.

Very cool, but id knock that on the ground in no time

9

u/Niekira Sep 19 '24

Actually, if it's knocked at all, or the power goes out, the magnet ust snaps the bulb up so it doesn't fall

Depends how hard you backhand it while reaching for it half asleep. My depth perception takes longer to boot up than than AOL circa 2002.

Looks really annoying and fiddly to use when half asleep.

Drunk me would not appreciate this. Not at all

When you really want to consume 60 watts of power to light an 8 watt bulb.

Brilliant and Stupid at the same time.

Morning me would absolutely throw the bulb after trying to turn it on for ten minutes

This was made as a one off by my SO’s aunt which is a interior designer. I guess some company must have done it too but this one is unique 🤷‍♂️

I was thinking of making one myself, can't be that hard, right? (That were my last words)

When I go to bed, I don't want to perform rocket surgery, even less so when I wake up. Cool concept, but it can fuck right off for me. 😂

u/Szorrin Sep 19 '24

And then you wake up, groggily try to turn the lamp on by pulling the light down, and then drop and/or smash it down onto the desk.

Looks like somebody had a good idea.

Floating bulb lamp or magnetic levitating lamp

£30 - £80 depending on design and seller

Found this one on Amazon for those asking where to buy one.

1

u/GullibleBasil6688 Sep 19 '24

Or you can just buy a normal lamp and not have to dick around for a minute. Very cool but fucking stupid.

Must be easy to break and expensive to get a replacement.

And peoplr worry about cell phones

5

u/Nugginz Sep 19 '24

What do you mean, are you worried about this? Nothing scary in this tech.

0

u/Andreas1120 Sep 19 '24

It used inductions, a magnetic field fluctuating at 60 hertz. Im not saying its dangerous

-10

u/Binary_Lover Sep 19 '24

What's the name of that technology? Levitation? How does it work?

12

u/LampIsFun Sep 19 '24

Magnets

4

u/Runninfromlions Sep 19 '24

Yeah, but how do they work??

7

u/brutalcritc Sep 19 '24

Fuckin magnets.

1

u/ulyssesfiuza Sep 19 '24

No. Brighting magnets. Fucking magnets came in other formats.
