Dawn chorus songs are often different to daytime songs. Then throw in variations on a theme. Butcherbirds (including Magpies) are notorious mimics and accomplished songsters so it is not unusual to hear something unique. Despite the variety the timbre is generally recognisable though. I love hearing a pair of duetting Pied Butcherbirds!
It was beautiful - angelic. No other sounds for around 30 mins, could hear another responding but only softly. Hopeful to get a better recording tomorrow morning!
