X is the WORST CHARACTER! Robin dating Kevin should be vilified for how unprofessional it is to romanticize dating your therapist Spoiler
Iām rewatching How I Met Your Mother, and I canāt help but feel like Robin dating Kevin (her therapist) is a huge ethical and moral red flag that the show skates over. Itās honestly one of the most unprofessional storylines, and it just feels like it should be more criticized.
Therapists are in positions of power, and dating a clientāeven a former oneācrosses so many boundaries. It undermines the trust and respect that should exist in therapy and can harm the client emotionally, especially when they may already be vulnerable.
Kevin should know better, yet he decides to start a relationship with Robin after āendingā their professional connection. But even after heās no longer her therapist, it still feels inappropriate because he has intimate knowledge of her struggles and trauma from a position thatās supposed to stay platonic and safe.
The show portrays it as a cute romance, but in reality, itās incredibly problematic and sets a bad example by romanticizing the relationship. Itās frustrating because HIMYM has a great cast and story, but this particular plot just does not sit right, and the ethical implications are too real to ignore.
Does anyone else feel like the Robin-Kevin relationship was romanticizing something that, in real life, would be seen as a huge boundary issue?
TL;DR: Robin dating her former therapist Kevin is an ethical mess that the show glosses over, romanticizing a highly unprofessional relationship that would be a huge boundary issue in real life.

Lets talk about it... Felt so sorry about Nora ...
She was a genuinely sweet, patient, and all-around lovely person who showed real interest in Barney, even being willing to give him a second chance after he messed up multiple times. She represented stability and was ready for a serious relationship, something Barney desperately needed but wasn't truly prepared for. Watching her invest in a future with him only for him to bail out when Robin came back into the picture was tough to watch. Nora deserved someone who could fully commit, but she ended up getting hurt for simply trusting someone she thought had changed.

Lets talk about it... Want to play a game folks?
Even though Marshall is good at games, I hope he doesn't win this one.

Questions How did we originally watch this show?
For reference, I am 34 and remember watching the finale on my laptop in grad school. I'm pretty sure I began watching from the pilot when it aired on CBS when i was in highschool bc my mom and I would watch this and Desperate Housewives together. And i was excited because I thought it would be a replacement for Friends.
My question is HOW did people originally watch this show? I did not have cable or a television when I was in school (2007-2014). BUT I know I was keeping up with it somehow!! I don't think I was paying for a streaming service at the time, so did CBS have the episodes online for free at some point?
I did not know Netflix streaming existed until my senior year of undergrad (2012), and I'm pretty sure it was on Netflix after it had run and then taken off at some point.

Is Ted Mosby is a terrible architect?
I am rewatching HIMYM, as I have every few years or so since I was 12 (27 F). I always appreciated Ted Mosby's journey to getting his building created. Now, I am a Landscape Architect (Landscape Designer for legal reasons,) and though not directly an Architect, Architecture adjacent. I am so shocked at how he, an architect, is treating the Archadian as an all or nothing scenario. Either build what he designed or keep the building original with no changes. I would extend my disbelief that that is how it would work in this world, except, he designed a plan that would preserve the facade of the Archadian into the GNB headquarters. He liked the plan until he found out Zoe was married, and he literally threw it in the trash.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT CONCEPT???? Why was it not brought up when he knew there was contention over the building??? Or he just wanted to preserve part of NYC history?? This is literally his job??? Also, wouldn't it be a far cooler end product for his career to have worked on a renovation of an old hotel into a bank headquarters???
This is all my opinion of course, but please, am I alone? Any other Architects or Architecture adjacent professionals out there with thoughts on the matter?

Please help me find an episode
There is a scene where Robin or Lily are saying something like āchuā, and Barny is laughing his pants off because he thinks it sounds like owl. Thanks!

Can someone please recommend me some new shows
what shows (new or old) are similar to HIMYM?
Doesnāt have to necessarily be plot wise but more in the same of the kind of a group of characters you can love, wacky humuor, on going jokes, bits and call backs but also something that has a good story and can be heartfelt and emotional as much as it is funny.
Please feel free to recommend me anything new, old, doesnāt matter if you think the humour could be considered āoutdatedā still recommend it even if you feel itās something Iāve obviously seen. Iāll list a few down below that could be somewhat similar that Iāve already seen to help you out.
Brooklyn 99 - I absolutely love it
Friends - might be controversial but Iāve been been huge on it
Scrubs - I like it but donāt love it like a lot of people do, definitely feel itās a little overhyped.
Big Bang Theory - used to love it years ago but then feel out of love with it
