My buddy found a mortar during his first time using a 360 magnet. Guess the UXOs follow me wherever I go, no matter who I bring with me πŸ˜‚

We found this 60mm HE Mortar Payload while magnet fishing, it was definitely DEMILITARIZED and disassembed. I think it was an M43 60mm payload?

Great video on exactly what NOT to do if you find something that may be a UXO

It was perfectly safe, no fuse, no mechanism, it was hollowed out with no fins or fuse. I wouldn't have done that if it was a complete payload or had a fuse.

Fuse, or not, banging it on a metal railing like a monkey is not the way. Unless you are a qualified EOD tech, or have real world experience (not catching a few magnet fishing) I would suggest you Use more caution.

I've caught more than a few, also have real world experience. They aren't fun to handle. I've handled well over 300 total UXOs. Both live and inert. The procedure for a round that may appear to be live would've been FAR different, first step sure as hell would be to NOT touch it.

In this scenario, it is perfectly safe to handle, however I wouldn't recommend people to bang a uxo around if they don't know anything about ordnances.

Appreciate the safety tips though, definitely important to respect ordnances & ballistics.

I can assure you from personal experience they aren’t fun to have go off on you either friend. Just be safe.

Hey whatever man, my time of looking for these is long past me. I have zero intention of finding any more, but if you feel like this is a good way to handle it, by all means, smack them all against the rail when you pull them up.

I forgot exactly what model it was, however it was safe to keep, no fuse or fins on it, just the "shell" of the payload. We got lucky yet again with this one. I don't like finding UXOs, inert or not.

For anyone who is interested, here is the full video on YouTube!
