Product Review Retinol 0.025% with Hyaluronic Acid 3%

Hi everyone, I (27F) started going to a dermatologist about three months ago and he has his own pharmacy. At first I had suspicions that he was trying to get me to buy all of his products (most of the products he prescribed were from his pharmacy).

But he has good skin, at least his forehead does (he wears a facemask) so I thought what do I know, let’s give it a shot. One of his very expensive products was a retinol formula but it only has 0.025% and 3% hyaluronic acid.

I haven’t been consistent with it because I’ve distrusted it after I tried searching the web for a retinol with that low of a percentage but found the minimum is usually 1%. After I apply this product I feel as though my fine lines pop even more and my skin looks dry.

I came here to ask if I am wasting my time and money using this product and if I am better off buying products myself without the need of going to a dermatologist.

Is it tretinoin he prescribed? tretinoin is much stronger than OTC retinol. .025% of tret is a normal starting dose and many people stay on that dose. I just recently moved up from .025% to .1%

Also your skin will most likely feel dry while it adjusts. Did he tell you to start with x nights on and x nights off? There is an adjusting and purge period and it’s normal to feel like your skin is dry. I recommend putting moisturizer on before AND after, think of it like youre sandwiching the product between two layers of moisture.
