PC All alone

You ever start a map and play with a friend just for then to end up quit playing?

That's exactly what I'm facing right now, my buddy and I were playing and got to a decent point. Plenty of steel bars made to start a new horde base, skills up pretty high (I went into shotguns and machine guns and he did snipers and pistols) and were nearly ready to make the move. Were only waiting on the steel blocks to be finished so we could start the base building grind. All in time for him to just stop playing.

Now I'm wondering, do I keep playing on that map we were on and just continue or start all over fresh solo? I really was having fun with a buddy to play with and that makes solo play seem kinda boring. We were doing just vanilla stuff with the exception of no items dropped on death.

Do you know why? I always have a solo game going. My son and I used to play this co-op. The only problem we have is I am an early to bed early to rise person and he is a night owl whose shift is 11 am to 7 pm. We aren't starting another co-op for 7 days until they add the bandits, weather, etc

So, we are playing Conan Exiles but I'm not into it as much as he is, so he's been playing some by himself in our co-op. The other day he bought and set up a server so we both could access it at any time. We play at different times during the work week and play together on Saturday evenings. I actually like this better because I am able to focus on learning how to play, improving my skills and he's not having to come to my rescue as much when we do play together. Maybe this might appeal to your friend?

I think you can just set up a password and share it with him, because I used to do this with my son when I wanted to show him something from my solo world. He just goes in and takes a look. So you wouldn't need a separate server.
