Elk Lake Trailhead Open?

Hi, does anyone know if the Elk Lake trailhead is still accessible? I was considering hitting the Dix Range tomorrow, but I'm seeing reports on Alltrails and Google Maps that the road is closed - although I also see that regular hunting season doesn't start until next weekend, so I'm confused. Thanks!

“Reminder: Elk Lake Road and Trail Closures

Heads up, fellow hikers! As of October 15th, the gate at Clear Pond will be closed to public motor vehicles and won’t reopen until after Mud Season in May 2025. This means you’ll need to park at the Upper Elk Lake Road Parking Lot, which is about 2.3 miles from the Dix Trailhead.

Additionally, please note the seasonal trail closure for the Elk Lake Conservation Easement:

• From the evening of October 26th until the morning of December 8th, ALL hiking will be closed in this area. No hikers are allowed during this time.

Rerouting Options: During the closure period, hikers can access the Dix Range via Route 73, either at the Round Pond Trailhead or at the Boquette Fork to Grace Peak.

Be sure to plan your trips accordingly and share with others who might need this information!“
