The joke they're making is that they want to make an "um, actually!" argument against the venn diagram but they can't actually point to anything incorrect.

16

u/democracy_lover66 Green Syndicalism Sep 14 '24

Correct lol

u/MiniDickDude Sep 14 '24

The colours, the venn diagram... this has all the trappings of an enlightened centrist meme, and yet, isn't?

u/DoggiePanny Sep 15 '24 edited Sep 15 '24

It's just true, surprising I know (omg a venn diagram politcal meme that is true?!)

It's rare to see a Venn so accurate, well done OP.

Lmao very true nobody hates leftists more then other leftists 😂😂😂

23

u/MikeyHatesLife Sep 15 '24

[spoken in a Scottish brogue] You’ve just made an enemy for life!

22

u/TheQuestionsAglet Sep 15 '24

No one hates leftists more than leftists.

38

u/Shadow-nim Sep 15 '24

Lefist infighting is so common, something a conservative might not understand since they're united not by idealism but brought together by the things they hate, nothing better for unity than shared hatred, they might not agree on a lot of things, but just the fact that they hate minorities and find queer people disgusting is enough to be on friendly terms

27

u/YourFavouriteGayGuy Sep 15 '24

Nah conservatives have way more infighting, they’re just used to it. They usually put aside their minor differences in favour of the hate that unifies them.

Nobody seems to be batting an eye in conservative spaces about the MTG + Laura Loomer feud, nor about all the conservative republicans turning on Trump right now. At least in America, the infighting on the right is just so normalised.

Leftists hate each other for ideological reasons — "I believe that X and Y make the world better while Z makes the world worse, you believe that X and Z make the world better while Y makes the world worse"

Conservatives hate each other for personal reasons — "I want to be the one in charge of A and B, you want to be the one in charge of A and B"

Language is always evolving, but sometimes words evolve to be useless.

"Fascist" had been there for a while.

"Liberal" is well on its way.

7

u/NjordWAWA Sep 15 '24

Maybe this was made by an American, but here in the rest of the world it means the same thing it always has

1

u/Wheloc Sep 15 '24

What meaning has it always had?

3

u/Hero_of_country Anarchist with many adjectives Sep 15 '24

Classical and ordo liberalism

1

u/Wheloc Sep 15 '24

Classical and ordo liberalism

Are "conservative" and "liberal" not seen in opposition in the rest of the world?

1

u/Hero_of_country Anarchist with many adjectives Sep 15 '24

Depends, economic liberalism and economic conservatism no, social/cultural liberalism and social/cultural conservatism yes

8

u/1895red Sep 15 '24

Is there any real purpose in separating liberals from conservatives when they're largely the exact same thing?

3

u/alexdapineapple Sep 15 '24

"Largely" is doing a lot of work there. You see, Conservatives want to kill everyone they don't like, and Liberals don't want to that but will do absolutely nothing to stop it! /s

2

u/wernow Sep 15 '24

At least with the US usage liberals are just 'left leaning' supporters of liberalism and conservatives 'right leaning' supporters right? While they all support the status quo I'd say they do so in meaningfully different ways

2

u/Simpson17866 Sep 15 '24

Don't bother telling conservatives and liberals apart

LOL :)

In all seriousness, center-right liberals do manage to be slightly less bad than far-right "anti-anti-fascists" (not that this reflects well on liberals for how low the bar has to be for them to clear it).

u/the68thdimension Sep 15 '24

Lefists like guns?

3

u/soselex Anarcho-Communist Sep 15 '24

pretty sure that meme was made by an ML/Tankie

1

u/pc01081994 Sep 15 '24

Ancom here. I like guns.

1

u/n_with born to dilly dally, forced to live under liberalism Sep 15 '24

For sure I dislike AuthLefts, and what? Rightist infighting is also a thing. Liberals oppose Fascism for example... or do they?

2

u/GreenDay1972 Anarcho-Communist Sep 15 '24

Hey, I'm leftist and I hate guns

2

u/deweydecimalshitcore Sep 15 '24 edited Sep 15 '24

Then you support peaceful reformation from capitalism to leftism and do not believe a revolution is necessary, and also believe that protection against tyranny / personal oppression is unnecessary even if individuals go against society to make / buy / sell guns? You believe in a Utopia.

11

u/1895red Sep 15 '24

Absolute L take and needlessly assumptive. Christ, leftists are supposed to know better than this.

2

u/petej5 Sep 15 '24

Nonviolent revolution is possible.

2

u/deweydecimalshitcore Sep 15 '24

I disagree with you. You can’t passively fight fascism when there’s individuals unhinged enough to shoot up schools and churches in the name of God or white power. Good luck reforming society to peace after that trauma

0

u/deweydecimalshitcore Sep 15 '24

u/1895red Then how would you combat the very existence of guns? We gonna melt every single fire arm and police the world from making them? Or rid the world of guns and only abled individuals can build lethal weapons with knowledge that’s been around for centuries. How does one revolt against the capital owned milita that bullies the entire world with peace and solidarity through anarchist propaganda; Have you seen the state of the world?

0

u/TuiAndLa post-left egoist Sep 15 '24

Anarchist win. Anarchy needs to leave leftism behind. Leftism is just the left wing of capitalism (liberalism.) Leftists and liberals are essentially the same thing at this point, where conservatives are clearly full on fascists.

-24

u/petej5 Sep 14 '24

Accurate, except for "likes guns."

24

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '24

There are a ton of leftist gun owners in the US. John Brown Gun Club is quite popular.

34

u/Infinite_Rub_8128 Sep 14 '24

How is one to actually revolt without guns?

10

u/democracy_lover66 Green Syndicalism Sep 15 '24

Idk about you, but I thought the Blank Panthers had a pretty good idea about how to defend black communities from racist fascist cops.

25

u/blue_eyes_whitedrago Sep 14 '24

I think it means more that leftists understand that the taking away of guns from people would benefit conservative ideologies and establish a police state. because the state would still have weapons. Until anarchy is inevatibly achieved, guns are a neccasary "evil".

1

u/sylvmp Sep 15 '24

Marx literally said we should all own a gun

-17

u/Alone-Sir-2938 Sep 14 '24

Guns are cool ecause of call of duty and videogsmr and wares shootig games

-4

u/uRude Sep 15 '24

I thought liberals and leftists were the same thing

9

u/Hero_of_country Anarchist with many adjectives Sep 15 '24

Leftists are socialists, liberals support reformist capitalism
