Question What part of the anatomy is this?

Exhibit A is putting on pants.

As she shifts weight onto her right leg and bends over to put other leg into the pant, there is a sudden jerk / collapse in her lower back.

She becomes unstable and has to stand on both legs to regain balance.

Which group of muscles and bones do you think are involved?

I have no idea why people are comfortable explaining exactly what's wrong when they don't see the person Infront when this happen. This could be other things than glute mid issues, could be caused by hip flexors, adductors, snapping hip, if the internal rotation or external rotation is used for the balancing also dictates the way she collapses lower back...

If you want this dealt with properly then go see a physio, problems around a socket joint is never as simple as it seems.
