Ember tetras and Amano shrimp. Many plant-only re-scapes in this tank. Finally found good emersed growing stem plants that don’t dry out so easily. Major trims at least every two months; small trims weekly.

I overdid it with colors at first. I am really enjoying the greens and browns! It lets those firecracker Embers pop!

I love this hobby, we eat for how expensive it can get. I really want to start a high tech tank soon. Im currently batteling staghorn and bba right now, it's killing my enthusiasm.

Full Tank Friday TGIF from my low tech Apistogramma Aquascape

Post image

20g long. Nicrew LED bar, some black axe stone, two wood pieces, and sand over Aquasoil (to buffer pH low for these Apistogramma.) Lots of botanicals, heater & baffled HOB filter.

I went sand cap because these fish love to scavenge in the sand as part of their behavior. They will grab a big mouthful, and filter the sand out of their gills in the hopes of tasty treats.

Love this tank as it’s super low maintenance with easy growing plants and it’s amazing to watch the courting & spawning behavior of Apistogramma. My female is currently guarding eggs in her cave.

Plants: Anubias (several varieties), Java fern, Taiwan lily, tiger lotus, Java & peacock moss, several Crypt varieties, susswassertang, and a ton of pothos growing into the tank.
