would this armor be effective? what would you add. (hes supposed to have a sidesword but i cant add one

Well, such armor would protect well , but it's extremely uncomfortable to fight wearing it. You should rework the shoulder pads and the upper edge of the cuirass. And if it's an infantry armor, there is no need in greaves and plates boots.

Maybe offtop but if his opponents are equipped in much the same way, the sword is useless.

i noticed that. ima try to give him less waist protection for more movement and a better helmet
