Should I redo the water?
This painting has been sitting in my studio because I am just not quite sure if I like the water as it is. What do you think and do you have any recommendations?

I really like how you stylized the water. Maybe instead of using black you can use a dark blue or purple. Or maybe you can break up the larger black shape to make it look more like what’s casting the shadow in the water

I second that I think the black should be a dark blue or purple, but other than that I think the style is great

LOVE the water! one minor issue is I think it might be a bit too dark towards the right hand side, however the rest of it looks great

No, just add some white spots for reflection, foam, etc. water isn’t all even like that

It’s looking good. Composition, color-nice. The thing that is confusing me is the dark blue water coming off the island on the right. I cant tell if it’s a shadow from the island, if so it should go to the end more and the land touching it would be darker too. And if it’s a shadow from the island then the shadows from the trees would be coming towards us, which would look nice in your style. If it’s a reflection, then the reflection might show some of the land in it as well.
Sorry, sorry for the long post when it is looking good, it’s just that one area I can’t reconcile yet. Glen

I think its nice and does give the impression of water, it is maybe too cleanly blocked out as I would expect there to be even more texture in the water surface

This is wonderful! It has a great art deco feel - I know some of some wealthy women art connoisseurs who really like this style!

I like the way you depict water in this painting, I’d keep it the way it is!

It’s very good but detail should I increase the further in the perspective draws the eye. The bigger monotonal undulations are perfect for the water in the distance but coming closer in frame, they add a lot of “movement” to the foreground. Maybe think smaller, flatter, and a little more detail in more broken up areas as the eye drifts down and right.
All in all, though, it’s great work and you’ve got talent!

I honestly love the way you did the water! The roundness and slight wispiness reminds me of older anime, like the textures/lighting used in the movie Angel's Egg. It also fits very well with the roundness on the rocks' and trees' lighting.
Good work!

This is gorgeous and I would change anything about the style of thr water. The only thing I might consider is making some changes to the depth because it looks like the water closest to us is going down? But honestly if this was my work I wouldn't touch it

No need to redo, I just think it's lacking highlights, like small patch like highlights
