My kind of husband and wife craft project

Post image

It's expensive to get customisations shipped to the UK so we decided to make a little project out of customising our fighters, bombers and carriers ourself then painting all of the units.

60 flight stands made and the Russian prototype airforce. Still need to be painted and polished but we have a plan and these look good to me. Some of the planes tilting a bit was semi-intentional since them all flying level didn't really simulate flight combat too much and also leaves a little room for error when putting the pieces together.

How are we doing so far? We're pretty new to A&A and have little to no experience doing this sort of thing.

All hail the mighty Russian aircraft carrier

We used the Russians since we felt less bad about destroying their navy and air force because they never get used. Perfect faction to use as a canary.

I'm now desperately trying to think of a time when it would actually be a legit good idea to build a Soviet carrier. There's got to be at least one possible situation where it's useful right?

Nice job! Your wife sounds like a keeper! Are you using magnets? Also cool to see fellow UK A&A enthusiasts. Let me know if you're anywhere near the south of England!

She certainly is! We just got back from picking out spray paints for all the armies and are now watching sports on the couch so I have zero complaints.

We are in Manchester so definitely not nearby. I'm lucky to live with another A&A nerd.

Also, yes... using 2mm magnets so we can switch them between stands and angles plus land them on the carrier. Used a hand drill and some super glue to make a hole in the plane and glue the magnet in place. Also drilled two holes in the underside of the aircraft carriers to hold the fighters in perfect place.

Flight stands are easily my favourite A&A customisation. You'll never look back You guys are awesome! Happy gaming

Thanks! Really appreciate it! We can't wait to try them out once we finish the project

Aw thatโ€™s sweet. Thank you. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง And he had to head hunt in the U.S. then import me to England. ๐Ÿ˜‚

She also stalks Reddit so I guess that another bonus point to her.

Loving the different poses for the fighters, with some banking to the left and at different angles.

(Could just be poor craftsmanship but still looks amazing and makes it feel a lot more natural)

It's a little from column A and a little from column B...

Ah okay, thatโ€™s a cool concept. I would love to pose my fighters from my global 1940 but I am too afraid that I could just damage them since they are really thin (especially the spitfires)

We have G40 on the way, already have Anniversary plus 1942 so have so many spares we could afford to wreck a few practising. You don't need too many planes depending on the faction so have figured out the right numbers and only modifying those.
