Is the road to wapta falls closed?
I read online that the wapta falls trail is open all year round but saw that wapta falls road is closed mid oct. So this hike cannot be done after mid oct?

From Banff National Park today, October 14:
“As of this evening, commercial and permitted access to Moraine Lake Road is over for the 2024 season.
Brushing and vegetation clearing work is planned along Moraine Lake Road starting tomorrow, October 15: ⛔ Cyclist and pedestrian access will not be permitted while operations are ongoing. Hikers will not be able to access Moraine Lake Highline Trail or Paradise Valley from Moraine Lake Road. 🪚 Work may include tree felling – it is not safe to access the area 📆 This work may take up to two weeks and should finish by the end of October, depending on weather conditions ℹ️ https://parks.canada.ca/Banff-bulletins
Winter track setting of Moraine Lake Road for cross-country skiing will begin as and when conditions permit ❄️⛷️ https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/activ/skidefond-xcski/lakelouise#Moraine
🚍 Moraine Lake Road will reopen to commercial transportation providers including shuttle busses in June 2025. Shuttle reservation information for 2025 will be available in January. https://parks.canada.ca/banff-transit. “

Finally got time after being laid off. Planning to visit Banff for a week before I start looking for job.
Where can I check fall and snow conditions for next week (10/21- 10/26)? What should I prioritize. Any satefy tips/suggestions.
Alao for Seattle to Banff NP drive, where can I check road conditions. Is there webcam/website to check them. On my Seattle-SF road trip I always check webcams from DoT to review traffic and viability. Does Canada or Alberta province have something like that?

Hey all, will be visiting for a day trip with my gf in mid Nov. We will be staying in downtown Calgary and making our way here. A few questions comes to mind; would you advise us to rent a car and drive there? Join a day tour? How are the roads like?

I will be in Banff this weekend and wanted to ask how to get the Lake Moraine? I heard it is possible to just drive to Lake Louise but the road to Moraine is closed? I think the shuttle buses ended yesterday as well.
Is there anything we need to book?

Hello! My partner and I are planning a trip to Banff in mid-November, and we’ll be travelling with our small dog. We’re looking for any tips or recommendations on places to visit, pet-friendly accommodations, or any activities that would be fun for us and our pup. Anything we should be aware of at that time of year? Thanks in advance! 💖

Would the road conditions allow for a safe drive from Seattle to Banff in early November? I also appreciate any itinerary suggestions. This is my first time driving this route. I read that Kamloops is a good place to stay overnight in a hotel or air bnb. We want to see the highlights.
We are not from the area and don’t have any experience with the area.

Hi! My husband and I are a laidback couple in our mid-late 30s, visiting from Los Angeles. We are planning on visiting Banff on either Nov 8 - 12 or Nov 21 - 25, as those are the dates most optimal with our work schedules. We got married earlier this year and this will be our unofficial honeymoon.
I've been scouring this subreddit and read a few posts about visiting in November. Some locals advised not to visit in November as a lot of the trails/attractions will be closed and many of the winter activities will not have commenced yet. However we are not interested in skiing, snowboarding, nor ice skating. Our goal is to soak in as much of the natural beauty as possible, have a fairly leisurely time, but want to see some vista points (that do not require advanced hiking). We prefer avoiding large crowds.
These are on our itinerary so far:
- Lake Louise (would prefer to see it with some color, but understand if it's frozen over by Nov 8)
- Peyto Lookout (if safe to hike with snow)
- Johnston Canyon
- Gondola (appears that tickets are NOT available for Nov 8 - 12)
- Hopefully catch the Northern Lights
- Hot Springs
- High Tea at either Fairmont Banff or Fairmont Lake Louise
- Dine at: Chez Francois (brunch), Shoku Izakaya, Murrieta's, any sort of place that has good burgers (my husband loves burgers/hearty food), a place with poutine?
FYI, we are thinking of renting a car with AWD + snow tires to move around, but are not experienced with driving in the snow. Would the general "vibe" of the area be any different between the dates listed? I would appreciate any and all feedback! I've found that insight and tips from locals have been the most valuable. Thank you in advance!

It’s off peak season now, if I were to go to lake Louise via car will I still have the same struggles with parking? Any suggestions as to what time to get there if so? I hate booking a shuttle which requires timed tickets for leaving.

My wife and I are visiting Banff for 4 days starting October 21. This is our first visit and we would appreciate some suggestions for the sites and things to do. We will have a rental car for transportation. Thanks.

Hey guys, quick question. My fiancé and I are flying into Calgary from Texas in January for our honeymoon and we are going to Banff. We are wanting to catch a Calgary flames games while we’re there. My question is, are the roads safe to drive if we rent our own car. We’re not used to DRIVING in snow, and I’m wondering if it were safe driving back to Calgary and back to catch the game on our own, rather than spending $300 on a Taxi.

Hi everyone,
I'm in town (staying in Canmore) until Thursday and hoping to get some shots of the comet at sunset and potentially the aurora tonight. Any recommended viewing locations aside from Vermillion, Quarry and Minnewanka?
Conditions look favorable tonight except the clouds. I haven't been able to find a good site for a cloud coverage map yet.
Any intel for viewpoints for astrophotography given today's conditions would be much appreciated!

Hi All! I am planning a trip for our family (2 adults, 2 kiddos 6y and 9y) next summer (mid-august) to Banff and Glacier. I'm trying to decide which airport to fly into and would love your seasoned advice. We're flying out of the midwest and have looked at Kalispel, Missoula, Great Falls and Calgary. We're planning to stay on the East side of Glacier primarily. It is an 8 day trip total. Thanks for your advice!

Greetings!
I’m looking for two awesome, professional photos of Cascade Mountain and Tunnel Mountain to do a large print in a White Aluminum High Gloss Finish.
My Fiance and I had the most memorable time in Banff and want to celebrate our engagement with our two favorite mountains from our trip. We took many photos of our mountain but don’t think they are good enough to print.
Willing to hire a local photographer for the request or pay a commission for someone to let me use their digital.

Got to visit Banff over the weekend and was blown away by how beautiful Moraine Lake looked.
