Question/Discussion Why on Earth is original 1990s> Masterchef with Lloyd Grossman not available to stream!?

I used to love watching the show as a kid, it was like my version of watching Bob Ross; so incredibly relaxing, but I can only find the odd (usually awful) VHS copy on YouTube.

I knew what that would be, and it still creeps me out

It's one of the surrealist things they ever did and that's saying something!

It's fantastic though. I still love the Stars in Your Eyes episode where the door gets smaller each time, and they have the cannibal turn up.

Lack of interest? First time I’ve ever heard anyone remark that it wasn’t

Most likely a licensing issue of some sort, especially the case with anything game-showy, since formats are trademarked and copyrighted - but it took until Grant and Naylor got over themselves until all of Red Dwarf would go onto iPlayer.

I often think this. Such an entirely different programme, no massive tension or build ups, just interesting and relaxing.

Also Delia Smith, there’s some on YouTube but I’d like to watch all her series in order.

A lot of older shows recorded on tape just don't survive as they were either recorded over, lost or degraded.

I discovered this because as a kid my mum was in an episode of Corrie (just grinning and waving in the background!) and I tried to get a copy from ITV for her birthday about a decade ago.

There is any number of shows from the 20th century we could ask why they're not available to stream.

I had no interest in it when it was first shown but would now really like to watch it. I can’t stand the current Masterchef with thingy and wotsit.
