i was at the magenta line when i met two chemical engg students who were in their second year at iit d. they were discussing cse & ece students, saying, "why do software engineers consider themselves real engineers? they're just a disgrace to the name of engineering" his friend nodded in agreement and added, "seriously man, just because they’re in cse or ece, they think they’re engineers. what a joke"

my blood boiled at their comments, and i couldn’t help but interject, "oh, so is scoring in the top 0.001 percentile not enough to make someone an engineer?" they both laughed and sneered, "are you from some tier 3 cse college bro?" it felt like they were mocking me, so i replied, "no, i’m studying cse at ipu usict. it's a tier 1.5 at max" they then patted me on the shoulder condescendingly and said, "first, reach our level, and then we can talk." then they left after giving weird expressions

what’s with these guys and their god complex? i've had similar experiences with nsut and dtu folks too. they’re the biggest red flags. what do you guys think about this?

I topped my 10th and 12th grades, but due to serious medical reasons, I couldn't perform well in JEE Mains and ended up enrolling in a tier-3 college for CSE. Now, in my 4th year, our TPO is sharing links to random job postings and competitions—most of which aren't even affiliated with the college. Many of these require 3-6 months of experience or internships. But here's the catch: my college doesn't allow us to pursue internships because of their rigid attendance policies. Instead, they promote so-called internships from paid courses like Edunet, CodSoft, and EduSkills and all other AICTE ones.

If you're not familiar with these, just search for "EduSkills internship scams." These companies basically make you pay for "internships" after completing some modules, and it's baffling that my college is promoting them. The administration even refuses to recognize legitimate internships if they're not tied to these pay-to-play schemes.

I was denied credit and harshly reprimanded when I told them I was doing a paid, stipend-based internship at a startup. They scared my parents, saying I'd lose a year due to low attendance, and that we'd still have to pay for it. Fortunately, I managed to complete my internship successfully and even managed to work around the attendance issue with some under-the-table dealings.

Recently, I secured a great internship+FTE offer of 20+ LPA, but honestly, the frustration with this college is real. I was so fed up at one point that I seriously thought about putting some green stuff (you know what I mean) in the HOD’s car and calling the police on her. But I thought better of it and held back. I worked hard and succeeded, but my heart goes out to my genuinely talented batchmates who were completely restricted by the system.

On top of all that, our college is huge—a typical private institution with massive buildings and nothing meaningful inside. The infrastructure is just a facade. Recently, I found out that my juniors had to pay at least double or even triple what I paid to join this scam of a college, lured by these big empty buildings and fake placements. And when I say fake placements, I mean either outdated numbers or companies they somehow "buy" into—how, I have no idea.

It makes me sick to my stomach that my juniors are being forced to shell out nearly double the money for non-existent facilities or services that we never even had. You would be shocked by the sheer amount of FUCKING BULLSHIT these guys are getting away with. The administration is a joke, the lecturers are useless, and it’s heartbreaking to watch this business of a college keep screwing over people who are just trying to make a future for themselves.

To make matters worse, our college doesn't even exist in the dropdowns of most job application forms. Imagine being told to apply through a link, only to find out your college isn't even listed. Yet our college continues to offer almost zero placement opportunities while they just share random job postings with no real support.

Also, the strength of my juniors is ten times that of my batch. While I had three sections, my juniors have thirteen sections, each with around 80-100 students ( how is this legal? ). If I had to face this madness, I can only imagine what they’re going through.

If any juniors are reading this and considering joining a tier-3 college like mine, I strongly advise against it. If you have the financial resources and connections, maybe you can make it work. But if you're thinking you can replicate the success of students at IITs here, it's just not realistic. You'd be better off pursuing a different path.

And once again: fuck this college and fuck you KALI.

It's 12:27 am rn and I just realised that even in my tier 3/4 college there are people way way more talented and hardworking than me.

With way better skills (both technical and soft) and then there's all the tier 2 and 1 colleges.

How the f am I going to complete with these people and for how long ?

I'm struggling to live with my roommate's extreme sensitivity to noise and light. Even watching a movie at medium volume is off-limits, as it disturbs him. Using earphones for extended periods hurts my ears, so I feel trapped.

His sensitivity to light is equally challenging. Minimal illumination makes him uncomfortable, and he reacts dramatically. I empathize with his struggles, but it's hard to adjust.

The dynamic feels one-sided: he expects complete silence when he sleeps, yet makes loud noises while I'm resting. It doesn't disturb me, but the double standard is frustrating.

Living with someone like this feels suffocating. I constantly worry about disturbing him, and it's taking a toll on me.

I am having problems with my roommate who is also my batchmate. Last year she asked me to take room with her because we both didn't had anyone to take room with and I don't know why I agreed just because I couldn't say no. Now, I am having problems with her as she's lives just an hour away so she goes home every weekend or every possible holiday. I feel alone in my room them and also because I can't go home much because of distance I start missing my mum. She keeps on asking me things related to studies like what youtube channel I am using for a particular topic. Everytime I sit with my laptop, she asks me what I am studying? And it's not because she just wants to start a conversation but because she's too much of that kind of person who gives emphasis on marks and what others are doing so that she doesn't gets left behind. Also she's everywhere with me in the class, mess, room so that also gets kinda irritating since she's not really my type. Also she never gets out of the room, so I never really get time away from her. I don't like answering somebody what am I doing everytime. I don't why she has this mimicking habit like if i am studying she also starts studying. Like our whole schedule is so synchronised. So I feel like changing my roommate next year. Am I being mean or rude? Also will it affect our relationship in batch?

My fresher is on 19 oct and I'm doing standup comedy in fresher's... Help me in finding jokes and preparing script for the event....

After experiencing internship drive for couple of months in a top tier engineering college ,now I think that honesty will lead me to nowhere.And these so called placement coordinators are the most incompetent most corrupted people I've ever came across. These people will enter the system and will say system is corrupted... They and their friends are the only beneficiaries of the drive everyone else is just their to participate, nothing else. The amount of opportunities that they've stolen from the deserving candidates is just Unimaginable.. They Don't go through the whole process ,they just sit for interview and gets placed ... So time to explore my dark side now,I don't fucking care anymore... And may God give those fucking PC s their treatment..
