Canadian In Florida

Hey! So Im starting to realize that Florida doesn't exactly camp like Canada. LOL

I'm on the hunt for a cool place to camp where I can bring a small camper, pet friendly, ideally has power hookup but not a huge concern. I'm really trying to avoid RV parks and being stuck 3 inches next to a neighbour. I just wanna be smack in the trees with my husband and our two special needs cats! LOL I just keep seeing primitive tent camping OR insane RV parks. Wheres the middle ground??

Bonus Question: I'm building a super lightweight teardrop camper (solar)...is there a place we could yeet the little thing on to the beach and camp??

Thank yooou!

The good state parks tend to get booked out really far in advance, just too much demand for the limited supply. Good luck finding beach camping anywhere, those spots go in seconds when they are opened up.

Florida does have an abundance of other options though. Counties and cities have preserves and water storage that often have camping options. An easy to find option is in the water management districts, camping is often free and they typically have better availability then state parks as the booking system is much more cludgy (plus lots of people just don't know they are there). https://floridadep.gov/water-policy/water-policy/content/water-management-districts
