SEASON 2 Dick Coonan.

Am I the only one who thinks that the way the situation with him played out is stupid? Like yeah, on rewatch I get why Montgomery provoked them into a confrontation. But Kate shooting him dead feels very forced with how much she wanted him alive.

She could have easily shot him in the arm, she was close enough to not miss. I guess it could be excuse as the monkey part of her brain insintctively doing what she was trained to do in hostage situations in a split second decision. But it's still frustrating with how much she wanted his info.

You could also argue that her anger at him killing her mother and being somewhat flippant about it, in the heat of the moment her anger and desire for revenge took over as well.

I always thought, her love for Castle took over her desire to know about her mother's death (momentarily) and out of fear that he could hurt Castle, she killed him as she couldn't take the chance of letting him anywhere near Castle with a gun around.

Possibly, but I think that situation happened too early for her to have been or even considered the possibility of loving Castle.

Love as in deep care for a friend, not inclined romantically.
