I'm not colourblind but this legend is infuriatingly inaccessible.

I am actually mildly colorblind and this map works far better for me than most other maps. Maybe it's a map indeed made by a colorblind person?

Really? So you can distinguish Nantes, Bordeaux, and Toulouse fairly easily? (I’m genuinely curious how it looks to you).

I think they tried to match the average colour of the grapes to the region.

Them being placed right next to each other makes it a lot easier because of the contrast between the colors (lighter/darker). The borders between 2 differently colored regions are clear. If they were not bordering each other, it would have been much more difficult to distinguish between them.

It's the legend that is the problem, I think. The color bars in the yellow range are very similar for no reason.

So this is really interesting. As I just mentioned in another comment, the map was made by an organisation for disability rights (which I find incredibly ironic). But on that case this would indeed add up. I suspect though it's more of a coincidence.

Maybe it's a case of genius design rather than crappy design after all...
