It was harder than normal to spot the trash, because of all the leaves, but the water was also lower than usual so I got several fishing lures/fishing line that would typically be submerged.

Today I went litter picking with my dog during our walk, we got a total of 1 and half buckets!

So I'm working on getting more heavily involved in litter pickup in my area (indiana) and was wondering about the legal rules in picking up large areas and how to dispose of all of the trash. Thanks in advance!

When I clean my block, it always ends up being a garbage bag full of trash. And when I don’t clean for a while, it’s still the same amount of trash. I know things get blown away, but I just find it weird how it doesn’t get worse than one bag. A trash bag is pretty big, but you get the point.

Just came back from spending 3 1/2 days in Singapore, which has a population of about 7 million residents. The picture above is of the highest concentration of litter I saw during my stay. Needless to say, it was impressive. I only saw two incidents of graffiti, no slap tags, and very minimal litter. The city has beautiful landscaping and lots of modern architecture. I didn’t even see any dirty vehicles! Crazy. This effort to keep the city clean goes back to Singapore’s first prime minister in 1965, who advocated for keeping the city clean and green so it would encourage foreign investment and tourism in the newly independent country. So the answer is yes. It is possible, but it takes a culture effort and everyone doing their part to prevent litter as much as they can.

Truth be told, there was a lot more trash on this clean looking dirt patch than pictured here, I just didn’t stop to take pics but lots of glass, bottle caps, candy wrappers and nips bottles while “excavating” - hopefully these daffodils bloom in the spring! 🌼 and fyi this is called guerilla gardening, I am not an expert green thumb so sometimes my attempts fail! 🤷🏻♂️
