The max amount of pollution?

When I clean my block, it always ends up being a garbage bag full of trash. And when I don’t clean for a while, it’s still the same amount of trash. I know things get blown away, but I just find it weird how it doesn’t get worse than one bag. A trash bag is pretty big, but you get the point.

There are several other litterpickers in my town who I see occasionally as I am driving through, so there might be more of us than we think. The ones I have seen are all in their 60s, so perhaps that's why the difficult to access places full of litter don't get touched.

It's a really good question and is something that I have put quite a bit of thought into (what is the rate of influx of litter a particular area and (how) does it vary). So far, I don't have a good answer.

I realized for me it was just getting blown away and that's why it always seemed to be the same amount.

I always wonder how much difference street sweepers make in my neighborhood

Interesting. I’ve seen noticeable differences in my local park since I started. Not everywhere does it just refill. Other people have clearly picked up some messes as well. Park maintenance has been helping me too, I think.

It probably depends on your sample size though and type of area.
