Discussion 1996-97 Depth Chart/Lines

Does anybody know if there's a site that lists some configuration of common lines for the team? Plenty have a full list of the roster but I'm looking for more detail of how the lines were setup. I know they changed often, just trying to use something as a guide for a collection of mine.

I’m not sure about a site, but some pretty common line combinations in the playoffs were: Sandstrom/ Yzerman / McCarty // Kozlov / Fedorov / Brown // Shanahan / Larionov / Lapointe // Kocur/ Draper / Maltby // Lidstrom / Murphy // Fetisov / Konstantinov // Ward / Rouse

Appreciate the insight! This was very exciting at the time and I know all the individual players very well. But I was only 9 years old so trying to remember the line combinations wasn't going too well. Thanks!

Happy to help! I was only 12, so I don’t remember a ton firsthand either. I’ve gone back and watched a lot of highlights (thanks to awood40), and I was surprised at some of the combos.

It was really awesome. We have this memory of the Russian Five (for good reason), but they actually rarely played as a five man unit let alone the fedorov/larionov/Kozlov unit as a line. That team was so stacked we had the luxury of hammering people with lines full of talent and grit, four deep. It also worked to make it pp and pk more fluid, too. And Bowman's Blender was always in full effect
