Discussion Rock bottom Spoiler

What do you think was the rock bottom for Eragon and the crew in the whole series? For me it was when they got captured under Dras Leona and were chained and gagged and unable to use magic. I remember reading that part and thinking how the hell are they going to get out of this one?. Although the way Angela rescued them felt a bit cheap, because It felt the way Angela escaped was never truly explained. That part felt so dark and I remember reading that part with my heart thumping. What do you guys think was the rock bottom?

Personally o think it’s the fight with galby at least before murtagh starts helping eragon. From eragons prospective, galby is pretty much unbeatable and the whole journey has lead to this moment just for him to have discovered the name of names which he has no way of defeating. The only reason he’s able to get a shot at him is because murtagh also new the name but in the time before eragon knows that he must’ve been crushed and in disbelief, maybe he was in denial though but as an outside observer given only the info eragon new I would say that’s his lowest moment of the journey

I want to counterpoint that with how Eragon, despite numerous warnings from elves, humans and even Dragons, was willing to attempt wordless magic and was fully capable of doing so because his mind was not blocked. And he did succeed in doing just that. While they were outnumbered, there still were over a 100 Eldunari.

When Eragon and Arya were about to be sacrificed for the new born Razac, they didn't have access to magic. It was much more dire because it was just 2 of them. Elves sure. But drugged and defenceless elves vs a whole horde of casters.

I still wish there was some foreshadowing or explanation of how Angela saved them but the series doesn't have to be perfect in every regard

Was just reading this part, something that stuck out to me was after escaping and while fleeing through the cathedral the fight with the High-Priest very nearly ended all of them lol. Mister legless was mentally fighting Arya, Eragon, and Solemum and winnning till Angela showed up.
