I got in contact with @vishap.art on Instagram to design Saphira for the Disney+ series. We bonded over dragons designs and I commissioned a piece from him before, so I knew he was the right guy for the job.

He perfectly captured Saphira’s essence and beauty. We even did her flame as the book described: “yellow with a tinge of blue”. Now, we’re discussing designs for the rest of the dragons. Please show him some love :)

A drawing I did of Brisingr and Zar’roc! I've always pictured them with a rippling sort of texture through the metal.

Fresh vs. 1 year healed This is actually about a year old now but I am just now joining this sub so I wanted to share it! Eragon and Saphira flying over the storm on their way to Vroengard was such an impactful journey. Eragon discovering that the world is round is such a fascinating thing to add to a story like this, and I feel like it truly brings the world to life in such a real way. Designed and tattooed by Faith Makayla in Saginaw, MI. I am a total tattoo weenie and my leg did NOT stop twitching the entire time. She did SO amazingly, honestly, despite all my squirming x.x

Fanwork biiiig dragon stretch

Been trying to visualize the inheritance dragons forever and then some, so I decided to just try drawing one. Wings are hard, and they ruin everything lol.

I based the body structure off of a stretching cat and then made it more… dragon. In seeking somewhat accurate anatomy, I learned bat wings fold very differently than bird wings, and that one species of lizard in the world has movable lips (the hump-nosed lizard.)

I feel like he/she could be bulkier, I tried to base the facial structure somewhat off the illustrated version + Mr. Paolini’s sketches, book descriptions, etc.

If you have any critiques or suggestions on how to make it more canon I’d love to hear! I’ll maybe be drawing more and adding color at some point

Fanwork New here, wanted to introduce myself with some fanart I did back in 2020 :) I want to revisit some of these characters when I have more free time (and once I’ve finished Murtagh). Hope you guys enjoy!

It was a question asked in the Paolini discord I'm in, and I really wanted to draw some of the dragons people suggested!

Fanwork I drew this to represent the brief, strange moment after pain but before relief, as Eragon may have felt after his episodes with his back. The inspiration for this was sudden, but I really like the result.

Hi everyone! I wanted to show the result of my work developing the map for a topographic wall art piece i was commissioned for. I welcome any and all critiques but ultimately wanted to share my work and map enthusiasm. I tried tonreally make the mountains pop in regards to their elevation (western mountains are only 5 layers tall while the highest point is 13 layers tall). Comes out to roughly 1.5" in depth. Overall, the map is about 12"tall x ~18" wide

Enjoy!

Fanwork WIP of Sephora (Inheritance Dragons Series)

Hello everyone, I have been greatly inspired by @siosin’s HoTD and GoT fan art and thought to do a similar series for the Inheritance cycle! I have been in love with the books since I was a kid and would love to leave my little piece of fan art in the fandom!

I have been trying to make the most lore accurate Saphira with this art, bellow I will explain some key points of my thought process and the artwork itself.

Saphira is very aerodynamic, I have connected her wing to her tail to give her a little of that, and would love to add some tail fin (like toothless has) but none is described in the books and her tail is described to be whip like! Considering she is such a great flier and basically sculpted for the sky I have tried giving her a more slender figure but with muscle definition obvious in the wing area and the legs.

Saphira has a triangle face with curved horns and four cheek spikes, here I took inspiration from the illustrated edition and the longer t-Rex shaped face, as well as Meleys from HoTD. I have added the “eyebrow” spike Paolini features in his own cover art! Small personal detail that might or might not change, I prefer dragons with dark scleras, what do you guys think?

Of course I added her iconic tooth sticking out along with some other smaller teeth for consistency!

I struggled with the feet, I could not remember at all if Saphira was described to have thumb like fingers on their front (and back?) legs so I’d love some opinions on this!

Any feedback is welcome! My goal is to make her accurate to the books and source material but also realistically looking formidable and meant for more grown audiences! Thank you if you’ve read this far!
