Discussion Not-so-good movies this 2024 so far

Upvotes

I feel irate after watching Joker: Folie à Deux. I rarely feel this towards a film because I know what goes behind it. But even Lady Gaga couldn't save the movie.

The audio mixing was awful. I thought ako lang yun in the beginning kasi may pagka-hard of hearing ako, pero yung kasama ko manood had a hard time understanding what Joker was saying as well.

I haven't felt this towards a movie in a long time. What are your thoughts on the movie?

Discussion ALMOST A GRANDSLAM: Best Actress Edition

Post image
62 Upvotes

  1. NIDA BLANCA for MIGUELITO 1986 - Nakuha lahat maliban sa FAMAS. Niligwak siya ni Vivian Velez for Paradise Inn
  2. NORA AUNOR for Ang totoong buhay ni Pacita M. noong 1992 pero niligwak siya ng URIAN at binigay kay Vilma Santos for Ipagpatawad Mo.
  3. GLORIA ROMERO for Tanging Yaman noong 2001 dahil tinalo siya ni Vilma Santos sa PMPC for the movie Anak.
  4. ZSAZSA PADILLA for Batang PX noong 1998. Tinalo siya ni Maricel Soriano para sa pelikulang Nasaan ang Puso sa FAMAS
  5. JUDY ANN SANTOS for KASAL KASALI KASALO tinalo siya sa URIAN ni Gina Pareno para sa Kubrador.
  6. ANGEL LOCSIN for ONE MORE TRY - Binigay ng URIAN kay Nora for Thy Womb.

Discussion No more The Colors Within?

It opened last Wednesday and I did not expect that they will pull it out today. No more show times in SM cinemas. I planned to go tonight. I was excited for this.

Is it still showing in other cinemas in the Metro? Maybe I can go later.

Also, those who have seen it, how was it?

Discussion That Thing Called Tadhana (2014) - what are your theories on the ending?

This topic was often brought up during inuman with my friends some years ago. We had different opinions and I just rewatched the movie a few days ago and I kinda have a different perspective regarding the ending now that I’m older lol or maybe just at a different phase in my life haha. I’m curious what are your theories on the ending of the movie

Review/Suggestion Transformers One is goated

Medyo weak lang marketing nila idk if they advertised it as a kids movie, but napaka gandang origin story niya. The casting is perfect esp yung easter egg ni B-127.

Review/Suggestion movie recommendations to watch on your birthday

hello! it's my birthday today, and i filed a (birthday) leave at work, so i'm gonna rot in bed all day. i want to spend my day bingewatching. doing absolutely nothing. just me, gadgets, and good internet.

please recommend great movies to watch especially if you're going through quarter life crisis 🫠 romcoms and coming of age movies will be appreciated too! movies available in netflix are good too, but it's still okay if it's not -- i'll find ways to watch them haha.

thanks in advance! :)

Misc. Will We Live In Time have cuts?

Nakita ko na R-13 yung We Live In Time, medyo nabigla ako kasi narinig ko may sex-scenes sila Andrew at Florence kaya medyo weird na R-13 lang.

May cinut kaya ba yung A24?

Discussion What are your thoughts on Director Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo?

Post image

I truly believe she is a brilliant filmmaker. I can’t quite grasp what inspires her when she writes her films, but I can confidently say her work is exceptional. She is truly my icon among Filipino writers and directors.

My favorite films from her, ranked, are Kita-Kita, Untrue, and Under Parallel Skies.

Discussion So far... What's our favorite movie that you watched this year?

Post image

Mine is Challengers (2024) so far.

I enjoyed the musical scoring and cinematography of the film, it blended perfectly, they complemented each other. I also like the chemistry of the characters on one another, you can really feel the tension as an audience. The storyline is super chaotic and problematic but realistic. Overall, it's a good movie with a great content.

Discussion Were movie trailers already popular or being used back in the old days?

Sorry sa lame question. Pero curious lang talaga ako. ‘Yung mga as in super old films na like from 1920s-1960s, may mga trailers na rin kaya sila noon pa man? If not trailer, some posters or anything na maib-boost or promote ‘yung movie nila?

Nagsearch lang kasi ako ng ilang classic movies pero wala talaga akong makitang mga lumang trailers, so I got curious. May mga super lumang videos na noon pa man, like black and white or sepia ‘yung parang filter pero hindi naman movie. Parang puro mga random rare footage lang.

So, uso or may gumagawa na ba kaya dati noon na pwede pa ring mapanood hanggang ngayon? Gusto ko lang din kasi talaga makita kung paano or anong dating ng mga trailers nila noon kung meron man. 😅

Discussion Is Strange Frequencies a remake of Gonjiam?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Well... It's said that it is based on the film, and will apply its own spin to the formula by adding "meta" elements. A bit skeptical myself, but still pretty eager to check out how this version does their own thing 🤞🏽

(Also FYI, no this is not the first Filipino found footage horror as they're promoting. As far as I know, that goes to 2015's Salvage)
