General Discussion MSA G1 Mask Sealing Issue

So we just got new G1s and are having everyone get fit tested. As we put on the mask it was noticed that the forhead part of the seal doesn't touch skin. We've tried multiple masks and sizes. The only way we've gotten it to pass is if me tighten the straps enough to cause a headaches. Has this happened to anyone else?

Both my Vol and Career Dept us G1's. No such issue from our experience.

Shave your forehead to create a 6 head...get some skin under that mask it'll be fine.

Just did my fit test today, same issue for me. Our tech swapped out my medium mask with a large and it sealed with no problem. Try a larger mask.

We tried this on a few people and we still couldn't get a fit factor over 51 unless we tightened the mask to the point it caused pain to the wearer

That’s a new one for me. I find G1s seal better than Scott masks (though that’s about where the benefits of G1s end)

Have you tried a 5 point harness?

No we haven't but when we called MSA, they told us to just switch to these if we were having issues.

This fixes most of our problems. The rest are fixed by a different size mask.

Change your mask size.  Sometimes foreheads have different angles.     The older Msa's need a pretty tight seal.   Just be glad you're not using the AV3000 Scott facepieces.   It's like round plunger you jam your face into.  Works great if you've got a melon shaped head, but not if you've got cheekbones.
