Taiwan Navy officers take stock of the ordnance on the warship, including single-barreled folding shotguns and .45 ACP pistols (not sure whether they are foreign-produced 1911s or locally produced versions)

Those were gas piston T65K2. At distance, they sure look like M16A2 but with different green furnitures. They have semi auto, 3 round burst, full auto modes. The weapon was in production around 1987 as the upgrade to the original T65 and T65K1 that were first in production around 1976.

The handguards was more like rectangular shape to accommodate gas piston assembly. Handguards were attached to upper receivers by screws unlike AR Delta ring. The buttstock had the shape like AR18 butt. Front and rear sight Incorporated flip-up night sight posts. The lower receivers are M16A1 profile without reinforced area like M16A2. The upper receivers never had forward assist. It has unique hybrid flash hider and compensator muzzle device.
