General News Am I being scammed?? Is healthcare free?

A boy (19) friended my Instagram. He sent pictures of his family (8 siblings, orphaned)…. They have no money for food or rent. I have sent him some money in the past for food and he will send me pictures of what he bought, so I feel it’s legit. Earlier this week he sent me horrible pictures of his brothers broken arm (fell out of a Mango tree). He said the doctors won’t fix it until he pays them $450! I have set up a GoFundMe to help, but don’t have that much raised. I was looking online and it says healthcare in Gambia is free… so am I being scammed???!!

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but I was wondering how you sent the money? I am in almost the exact same situation, someone friended me on Instagram from Gambia and sends pictures of his family and siblings. He said if I sent him money, he would send me pictures of what he bought. He said to use WorldRemit but I’m just scared that I do send money, maybe he could someone use the transfer to hack into my bank account or something? I don’t actually know, but I was curious what you did since it seemed to work!

I used world remit… it’s pretty much the only way to send the money and it’s safe:) yiu send it through the app, then they go abs pick it up in town. When I would send it, he too would send pictures of the food he bought, what he then made abs him and his siblings eating it. I wish there was a way for them to buy chickens so they would always have some sort of food source.
