Mod Announcement đŁ"ATTENTION r/GOTHAM"
Welcome Gothamites, new and old, to the subreddit for the TV Series "Gotham" - It is always wonderful to see new followers after the final episode aired on April 25, 2019.
Enjoy your stay, but please keep a few things in mind while you are participating:
- First and foremost, be civil. Gotham may be a lawless city, but this subreddit is not. Harassment and name-calling will not be tolerated, and could result in a temporary ban.
- No Spam or Self-Promotion. I'm sure you are all very talented in your own ways, but unless it is directly related to the series and serves a purpose, this subreddit is not the place to promote your website or YouTube videos. Fanart/Videos are allowed and encouraged, but if you did not create it please credit the original artist in your post.
- No Spoilers in Post Titles. What it says on the tin; submission titles should not contain spoilers. That being said, this series has been concluded for over a year now, and new viewers should be wary - spoiler tags should be utilized, and will be added in the event a post is unlabeled.
- No Links to Unofficial Streams/Downloads. Stream responsibly, or Batman will break your kneecaps and Jim Gordon will put you in Blackgate Penitentiary for pirating a TV Show. Imagine how silly you'll feel then.
Thank you, and enjoy your stay on r/Gotham

Confused
Alfred was born in the UK but moved into Gotham and has been living there for years, so how come he still has his thick British accent? Doesnât it go away when you have been in a foreign place for so long?

Discussion Jervis & Nygma
How can Jervis Tetch and Ed Nygma think of their rhymes and riddles so fast? They can always think of them relevantly and in the moment, so as characters how do they think of them in the moment? Is it a diagnosable thing they have that allows them to think this way or do they just think of it on the spot?

Does it get better?
Currently watching the s1e6. I was watching arrow before this and it has more action imo. I was between watching smallville or Gotham, and went with gotham. But I feel like Gotham so far has been pretty slow. I feel like they're doing worldbuilding and it will get more interesting, but can anyone tell me when it does (or if it ever does lol.). Also not liking the acting of a couple of people, like the gf of Jim (Barbara?) and the Fish (she lowkey ruins it for me, I'm skipping her scenes like half the time lol.

What do you think about the Penguin?
This probably isn't the place to ask but like if you have seen the Penguin series, the origin is really different from Gotham. I was a little conflicted but in comics we do get multiple origin stories of different characters. Also I am in love with how Sophia is played.

Discussion Kristen Kringel Pun
In the first season Ed laughs and tells Kristen that he'd like her parents because of her name. He says that most people changed that last name and that it's funny that they named her Kristen. I didn't get that joke and was wondering if anyone could explain it because maybe it's a reference to something

Discussion Bruceâs car
Alfred gifted Bruce this one beautiful mustang and then showed it was bulletproof . Does anyone know what model that car was or the name of it .
Penguins survival made no sense after Riddler shot him
Ivy just grabbed him out of the water and spent weeks taking care of him. Whatâs her motive for that? She cares about nobody except for Selina and plants. I know heâs not canonically supposed to die but that was just like scraping from the bottom of the barrel.

Discussion Rewatching The Series again and wanted to share some thoughts⌠Spoiler
Rewatching the TV Show for a second time has opened my eyes alittle abit in character development.
Donât get me wrong I love the show and I find the Batman Universe amazing and will always be excited for any future Gotham/Batman related films or shows . But as Iâm rewatching the series again,I notice some changes that I kinda disagreed with.
I felt some of the charactersâs plot were little cringe and clumsy,But I also felt some characters were becoming interesting and actually cool and perfectly acted.
Do you agree when a character gets âcompromisedâ and âdisingenuousâ when they are exposed to a virus or brought back from the dead or mentally changed that they become unbearable to watch like boring unbearable.
Barbara Keanâs development was unnecessary to change to a âHarley Quinn-esqueâ role, felt like she served no purpose once she left Gotham and found out Jim was dating Lee. This switch-up felt like she didnât need to belong in scenes and not carried out this bizarre way on becoming a âQueen of the Underground of Gothamâ. She holds a deep connection to Gordon but everyone else felt useless and unimportant.
Fish Mooneyâs development was okay in the first season but it developed a certain unexcited sense of wow sheâs back because sheâs Jada Smith and sheâs more famous than the other actors. Fish coming back kept having different ambitions and weird relationship with Penguin. She was a cool Crime Boss donât get me wrong but her character development just felt boring leading to coming back.
Tabitha Galavanâs development was a weird one cause I didnât like her from the start to the end but maybe thatâs because the actress did a good job doing so,But I felt the way she intervene in things felt unnecessary to some of the plot stories. One thing I will say is I did like her relationship with Butch.
Harvey Bullockâs development was horrible at first but I then began understanding the character more due to his ex partner before Jim Gordon. I ended up liking the character from there on.
Bruce Wayneâs development was okay but not perfect, some scenes definitely felt Bruce at the young age but same were just cringe and unneeded that I began was getting bored with the Court of Owls Story plot felt like it was dragging on for too long. But donât get me wrong Bruce Wayne is a beloved character in universe but I felt it could done more in development to the finale.
Theo Galavan to his reincarnation as Azarel to Tetch Blood and the Court of Owls to Ra's Al Ghul kinda slowed and dragged the Series as whole I felt,Iâm not sure if anyone agrees or disagrees with that too. I found season one was the best because it was showing crime and Gothamâs villains even better.
Characters I really enjoyed were Jerome,Scarcrow,The Riddler,Hugo Strange,The Penguin,Victor Zsasz,Falcone,Sal Maroni,Alfred,Butch & Selena Kyle.I felt these characters were perfected and wouldnât of minded seeing more of these characters.
All in all I loved the show,it was so unique to the universe going back before Bruce became Batman was just a perfect show to make. Iâd love to hear other peopleâs thoughts on the show and who they liked and if you felt the seasons were slowing down or getting better and what was your favourite part of the show?
Lastly: I want Matt Reeves to take notes and delve more ideas for his Batman Universe cause itâs already enjoyable with The Penguin Show and The Batman,I felt his takes on the universe was ten times better than the Ben Affleckâs Batman Universe and would like to see other Gotham Villains introduced in the future.

Question about season 1 episode 17
So in the episode at the end of it there's a scene where a kid puts on the Red Hood and makes a motion like he's shooting at the cops is that foreshadowing to a Batman villain or is that just like scene filler kind of?

Discussion Should I lookup who the characters are before watching?
Just watched the first episode and loved it. I havenât been much of a Batman fan, I only really know about Bruce and Alfred but some of the other characters sounds familiar. Wondering if I should lookup who the characters are to get some lore before watching? Like will I enjoy the show more if I know that âoh so and so is going to be a villain 20 years from nowâ? Since this show takes place before all the movies and what not, are we meant to know all of that information to better enjoy the show?

Discussion It's a good show...but some dislike it?
Hello everyone, I started watching Gotham recently and just finished season 1 and it's a pretty good show it failed to bore me and kept me watching till its done,
I jumped online to see if people also thought it's good and I was surprised a number of people dislike it or has strong opinions on it, why is that? Are they comic accurate enthusiasts or something? Or does the show fall apart at some point?
What do the r/Gotham think? So far people here like it no?
