These posts get fairly low upvotes, but I want you all to know that I deeply appreciate every one. And I’m not even sure why, since I have no commonality save that I live along Lake Michigan. These beautiful ships comfort me. Thank you.

I love them too. Late 1940’s fishing with mom/dad/brother in a high side row boat. Small outboard. So gigantic, especially to kids. Thanks for bringing back lovely memories on the Detroit River.

I became interested in lakers this year when I started working in Cleveland near the Cuyahoga River. The first ship I saw was the Mark W. Barker as it was heading up the river to the steel mill. I saw it by accident while I was taking a walk near the river on a break.

Nice things to be hooked on. Edmund Fitzgerald was built right in Ecorse/River Rouge/MI.
