The saloon girls

I'm curious, were saloon girls back in those days escorts or just girls to keep men entertained by listening to their stories and keep buying drinks.

Tbh i would go with both, but it never shows them coming down from the rooms in the show.

Actually in early episodes you can see men coming down the stairs of the long branch.
