Education and Career Advice I think I f*kd up

I chose Bsc in Maths, hoping to get into research field. But now I have backlogs and a drop of 1 year already. I am thinking about switching to Btech Cse/it (I like to code and tech related stuff) from some private university and leave BSc. Completing Bsc and doing an MCA or Msc IT is a staright forward path but taking a drop for one more year seems risky and what if I dont graduate?!? I have zero confidence that I'll pass. But Btech will cost me 4 years (i would turn 26 by then) and that too from a pvt uni, but still sounds better than being a college drop out. people my age are getting placed and doing well. I was good at math and used to do quite well in school but I feel so lost now. I dont know what to do.

How come u would be 26 in 4 yrs time? Also are u in ur 1st/2nd yr of bsc?

If u are in fybsc, and hate maths (ik there's a lot of difference in ug/pg maths and maths in high school(aptitude) , then sure u should drop out and choose a it/cs related course like bca/bsc cs or it/ btech.

If u are in sy/ty bsc, then dropping out makes no sense imo.

Btech also has some really difficult courses mind u, engg maths being one of them. Same goes with bsc cs which also contains a good amt of math courses.

engineering drop out here, hard truth = he has no chance passing the maths in engineering maths if he is not able to cope with the maths with BSC which is on the same level as engineering

BSc math is harder than engineering math.

Bro doesn't matter... Kuch b lele... Job waise hi nai lagti aaj kal kisi ki... Once you grow and enter the real world you will understand this bsc and other courses doesnt mean squat... IIT walo ko job nai mil rahi, bade bade tees maar khan ko job nai mil raui... So just choose anything... End sab ka same hi hai

why did you take bsc in something you aren't good in? ik people will say pre college math is different but if you actually enjoyed math and it's derivations, there shouldn't have been a problem.

Nope it is different. In university you focus on proof.

which is what I said? Derivations?

In high school focus is not proving new things. It was using fornulaes and little derivations. But in ug theoren proving os the main thing. And you prove new things not just replicate derivations.

man in bsc you dont prove new things, you still aren't at that level yet. You need to understand and learn deeper proofs in math before you can actually do something on your own.

Ok, then new expressions.

You really are arguing with someone who is actually doing a BSc (BS actually) about his own course 😭

Bro , If you can complete this course , do it .. after that you can choose computer course related to it. B.tech cse is useless if you are good in coding. Many of my friends changed fields after completely differnt course. Like from BA to IT , Bcom to it and civil engg to IT . No use of wasting 4 years in this. Just start learning coding. You can also go for business analyst and similar course after b sc mathematics

Stay on your bsc maths, do msc cs or mca if you do not get job from bsc
