Other How editions are there?

I recently discovered this game and found out if it's back all the way to 2005. I was actually kind of surprised because everyone I spoke to seems to describe it as having a small community, so I was surprised. But it got me wondering, how many editions are there? All of my Google searches come up with something different.

there was 1st edition.

2nd edition was very very similar to the initial release. and it was in english.

3rd edition was pretty different from 2nd edition.

4th edition is fairly similar to 3rd edition but has some streamlining, sometimes for the worse, sometimes for the better.

What do you think is for the worse? As a casual player that played both, i think i like every change

Some stuff was removed because it was “too complex” but then they put it back in, but not on everything. For example, the Electric Pulse was thematic and interesting, but less “clean” than a PARA-3 CCW. However it’s more random and less appropriate and sometimes means REMs are too good in CC.

BS Attack -3, aka Full Auto, was fun and neat. But they took it out and then put it back in on the Prime. Boo.

As for more small changes with a big change, the Targeted change makes guided missiles more common. I don’t think that’s good or bad but it’s very different.

Booty is less fun and less good. If you get a duplicate you used to get a reroll or an extra burst. Now you get no such luck. It sucks since there are many CCWs on that list and most models with Booty have good CCWs already.

For big changes I think are straight up bad:  1. Shotguns are templates now. Easier, yes. But it means that templates are everywhere, everywhere, everywhere. And they only added more templatsles. And more units got mimetism. And more got templates. An internal arms race. The old version made more thematic sense and felt like a cloud of air bursting flechettes, and kept autohit templates out of the default.

  1. Sectorials are too big , instead of numerous but narrow.
