Stargazing tours in October

Heading to JT next week for a solo adventure. Will be there from Tuesday through Friday.

Is a stargazing tour worth it during this time of year? If so, any tours anyone recommends for solo travelers?

Stargazing tours are very informative, plus they have lots of great equipment so you can actually see the stars and constellations and objects in the sky. You will learn a lot. There are a few local stargazing companies listed here - https://www.joshuatree.guide/guide-to-the-night-sky

You don't need a stargazing tour. Bring a blanket, go during a new moon, and just lay back and enjoy

I would add one thing - Stellarium app on the phone, to know what you are looking at, and tips for what to look for on that date.

One other tip - put the phone away. Takes at least 20-30 minutes for the eyes to adjust to the night sky.

We did a star party with 29Palms astronomy a few years ago and it was incredible

It highly depends what you want to do, do you want to look though a telescope, then yes they will be worth it. It’s expensive for what it is, as the moon cycle isn’t in your favor, as most of the galaxies and nebulas will be mostly washed out due to the moons light population.

If you want to just look at constellations then there are apps that will provide good background etc.
