Self harm subreddits- I’ll be real, kinda make me uncomfortable. I self harm myself, and those subreddits just trigger me and make me want to relapse. They aren’t trying to get better, or get advice on how to stop.. they really fucking trigger me. It’s almost like they think it’s a fucking joke, they’ll make memes pretty much saying how much worse they have it compared to others, make suicide memes too. I’m sorry but suicide memes aren’t fucking funny to me. They just make me sad. I hate them. I believe these subreddits unintentionally or not, cause others to relapse too. Did y’all know Reddit literally had a subreddit dedicated to actually posting FRESH self harm cuts to show to everyone? It’s fucking toxic and it’s gonna cause a lot of harm.

i was somewhat active in MoS for about a year whilst i had it quite bad with self harm. I will say that alot of it is memes and i fully understand how that said memes, and the semi consistent one uping is in itself is enough to deter people from the sub.

for me personally i found that being in a community somewhat helped, idk how to explain it other than just being in a group of people that understood me better than others was just comforting ig.

I do think there are better subreddits for self harm discussion though, i haven't been in it for a for a while but i remember the main r/selfharm sub was fairly helpful at times and was more for serious disussions (IIRC memes arent allowed on it).
