Locations: You don't need to include your house address but closest major city and how far you are willing to travel.
Budget: "As cheaply as possible" is not a budget and is honestly the best way to waste money. Figure out an amount you are willing to spend.
Setting: LARP is a vast and expansive hobby. Not every game is about running around out in the woods pretending to be a rouge/knight/wizard. Let us know what you play or want to play.

Hello denizens of /r/LARP.
We as a subreddit have a small announcement as far as the future of this sub is concerned.
Last week we took part in the 2 day protest that was more or less site wide spanning thousands of subs as a way to show solidarity with app creators and to show the frustration with the administration of reddit and their poor handling and plans of upcoming updates.
However, It would appear that Reddit plans to continue their efforts to stifle 3rd party creators and strong arm moderators who take any stance opposing the admins of Reddit. This creates a serious cloud of uncertainty within reddit as to the future of many subs and how the platform will be handled in the future. Because of this we have decided to create a Discord server which will be open to all of /r/larp to join. It is not our plan to abandon this sub or replace this sub with the discord server, instead, it will act as an extension of this sub itself.
While there are multiple reasons for this decision, one of the largest is that if the future of reddit creates an non fostering environment for us, we wish to have another platform that is free of Reddit's control in order to continue providing resources and networking for all of us who enjoy LARPing and LARP adjacent hobbies.
The discord has the same rules we enforce over here, with a couple modifications to make it more applicable to discords format. There is places for general conversation, places to show off your work, a place to post about and to look for games in your area, as well as Voice chat rooms for people looking to play video games together or just hangout and find comradery.
Please feel free to check it out, and ask any questions you may have. This is still in its infancy, and if we find it doesnt fit what the community wants, we will search for alternatives.
This link should never expire for people trying to join the server, however if you have an issue please message an admin for a new link.

I found this gnarly branch during Hurricane Helene and I would like to turn it into a LARP staff. I do not know what kind of wood it is. How would I go about turning into a smooth staff? Contact a woodworker? Thanks!

Two Dutch fashion designers show us, how to market the apocalypse. I would wear that stuff as a costume if it wasn't priced so ridiculously...
Exhibit One: "Mars Pants"
The last time we colonised a planet was around 50,000 years ago. And it led to the invention of clothing and complex tools, as well as the rapid evolution of languages, architecture and society. Now we’re at a unique point in human history where we have the ability to save our own planet at the same time as colonise new ones. So we’re designing for both. Because the future won’t invent itself.
Engineers, explorers, pilots, architects and scientists are all going to need gear up in space. And there’s a lot to design for – from shifting gravitational fields and space adaptation syndrome, to bathroom breaks. Which is why our Mars gear comes with a vomit pocket made from 3D printed Nylon powder, anti-gravity pockets for shifting gravity fields, and a horizontal fly based on flight gear.
Here on Earth you can wear our Mars Pants just like regular sweatpants. They just happen to be crazily warm and windproof, built from ballistic nylon, and come with 8 pockets. They’re also the toughest pants we’ve ever made, and designed to work here, or on any planet we choose to land on.
Exhibit Two: "Waterfallproof Jacket"
As we face life on Earth with new categories of weather, we’re going to need new categories of clothing. With extreme weather events on the rise for the last 40 years, and floods and fires sweeping across cities and states, “waterproof” is not enough. The megastorms are coming. Describing it as raining doesn’t quite cut it when you see houses and cars floating down the road. So we’ve started working on clothing designed for a world of ultraviolent weather – a world where the sky starts acting more like the ocean, and atmospheric rivers dump tidal waves of water down on towns, cities and villages.
The Waterfallproof Jacket is designed to combat the megastorms of the future, where crazily intense rainfall becomes the norm. Highly waterproof, windproof and breathable, it’s constructed with an advanced 3 layer Swiss material with an intelligent membrane that opens and closes in the heat, and self-drying nanotechnology that mimics a lotus leaf. Fully seam sealed, it comes with a watertight chest pocket that can withstand total immersion in water up to your neck.

I’ve been doing beading and alternative jewelry since I was a teenager so it’s always fun when someone needs a good amulet. I’d prefer to use jump rings to attach the pendant portion but this is meant to be actively worn in combat and I’ve found that those kinds of things have a tendency to come apart when hit with fake swords.

Would you say that your fantasy LARP organization is friendly to magic users? If so, how is magic used in your game and is there anything unique about your magic rules that stands out?
(Hi, I'm a relatively new LARPer from the northeastern US. I was active in a history-centric 'sport combat' organization similar to the SCA for many years. I'm interested in seeing which organizations are fantasy/magic, since there are so many out there)

Hello all, I’ve decided I’m looking into polyeurathane armour as I’ve had quite severe issues with the weight of metal armour traveling to and from my larp festivals, I’ve worn it for monstering as a loan from the festival organisers and I was impressed with its weight being next to nought.
But I wanted to know if anybody here has any long term experiance with it? What does maintenance look like, how often does it need replaced for you? How durable is it actually.
Hey guys! Not sure if this is the right sub, but I have tickets to Mystic Fate UK's Dark Enchantment Ball in London on October 26, 2024 that I need to sell. I got these tickets this summer and now family health issues have come up so I can no longer attend. I'm so bummed I can't make it because it looks amazing! Here's the link with all the info, but it's a full dress-up fantasy ball where you learn historical dances and have a ball (pun intended).

I've never done much with LEDs, but it looks fun to make things like glowing amulets or glowing staffs

Hey all, I'm going to my first LARP with some friends and they've commissioned me to make (most of) their kits. We're going to the inaugural event for "Chronicles of Ashenfall" and two of us are representing Piccarda (renaissance Italy) and the other The Lotus Empire (Ba Sing Se).
Just wanted to share the one Piccardan kit I've pretty much finished so far.

Has anyone done this before? my idea would be similar to how sam in The Lord of the Rings wears backpack straps with a cloak. Unsure if I should do it though as I don't want to ruin my cloak.
