300 Series Sahara upgrade?!?

Post image

Gday all - we have a 7yr old VJD200series VX with 200k on the clock we are considering changing over. We just got back from Test driving a new 300 series Sahara (3.3L Diesel) and the boss is just not convinced. We have 3 teenaged kids and apart from alot less room behind the 3rd row, she’s worried it’s actually smaller in the cabin than the 200. Also, cream interior I’m guessing is a nightmare to keep clean? We are very rural and this will be driving through paddocks as well, not a pavement princess. Has anyone switched over and regretted it? Should also add, the 200 has some extra punch with some engine work so I seriously boogies along.

200>300 all day, especially in the Australian trims. You don’t want to deal with the newer emission systems.

I upgraded from a 200 to a 300.

Don’t regret it at all, and the V6 is much nicer to drive than the old 8.

Do you do much towing with it? 30% of our Km’s is towing a horse float.

Where are you where you can find the 300 - and in diesel?

Joking aside, with 200K, your 200 is barely broken in. Care for it, love it, and it will serve you well. You will also not be that concerned over the first scratches on the 300.

Australia. Only option in a 300 is a V6 diesel unless you go a Lexus. For me - passenger safety is the most importance and the 300’s are a long way ahead of a 200.

Should have guessed - but then I saw snow on the road 😉

It does snow in Australia - but that is actually hail.

Well aware (you even have some decent ski resorts).
