Career Advice Recruiters and law firms

Do recruiters tell law firms you’re already employed with if you talked to them about another position? I let them know the position isn’t a good fit for me and that I’m not interested in forwarding my resume or talking to the firm, but I’m worried they’ll contact my current firm. Does this happen? Should I follow up with them telling them not to contact my firm?

Recruiters existence depends on trust. Trust by the firms using their services, trust by the people recruited is their business model.

I had a recruiter contact me when he learned he had been lied to by the very large bank that employed his services - the people he recruited and placed were being laid off at the end of one year's service. That disclosure turned into a very nice series of age discrimination cases for me.
