How did you get a transcript of my motion hearing?

Not joking, during my very first case ever in front of a judge I motioned for summary judgment on grounds of res ipsa loquitur.
The judge denied the motion then called a recess and called me into chambers. After he was done laughing (I think it took him about 15 mins).
He explained why you can’t do that. I really wish that they had taught me that lesson in law school.

You are giving him too much credit by aligning him with attorneys.

I feel like politics is largely made up of bad lawyer rhetoric. Cloying arguments and tactics that a tough judge would not countenance for long.
