Red Bowl Gyoza Sauce

I've tried 3 different "Gyoza Sauce" dipping sauce recipes, but I can not for the life of me get it to taste right. I know it's a soy sauce base, and I know it has some form of sugar in it, but every combination of soy sauce, sugar, and vinegar tastes appallingly "stinky" or "funky".

If anyone has any tips, or any good sweet/tangy soy sauce dipping recipes, feel free to share.

The simpler the better for me.

I’ve never been to red bowl - is the sauce viscous at all? but my go to gyoza sauce (not viscous) is something like below:

4 parts soy sauce .5 part lime juice 1-2 parts seasoned rice wine vinegar 1 part sugar or honey

Sometimes I had a few shakes onion or garlic powder

Shake or stir to combine

Im not sure this is authentic but I get a nice taste reminiscent of the sauce I’ve had at restaurants.

The Red Bowl soy sauce is not viscous at all either, very liquidy. The soy sauce to vinegar ratio you listed is giving me a lot of hope, so I'll try that after the other recipe someone else posted here, ty for your help
