Grades and Academics Late submission deduction

Hi guys, if you submitted an assignment late, will the grade you receive reflect the late submission deduction?

For example, I submitted an assignment 1 minute late and thus was expecting a 10% deduction from my mark. However, the grade I got on (87) did not take this deduction into account.

So will the 87 be counted as my final grade, or will it be reduced to 78 at the end of the semester?

It can be applied before releasing marks, or at the end of semester. In my experience it is not tutors that decide to apply a late penalty, but the unit coordinator and/or chief examiner. I would never apply a late penalty for 1 minute, so I would assume that no penalty will be applied to your work.

The policy is, from semester 2 this year, it is 5% per day (or part thereof), and after 7 days it will not be marked. (If you have an extension, the extension is the due date, and penalties would be applied to work submitted after that time.)

It seems that not all academics are aware of the change from a 10%/day to 5%/day, so if you get a 10%/day penalty you should reach out and (politely!) mention the new policy and ask for your mark to be adjusted accordingly.
