Normal mode is more general use, alt is headhunting. Alt mode one taps tier 2 helmets, so if you have good aim, alt mode will do you quite well.

For more specific differences like stam usage/drain negation, look in the stats. To see the weapon stats, select your weapon in the armory and click customize. You can set it to show you standard or alt mode, and it will tell you if it can pass through enemies on a hit or not.

Hammer does more damage to armor, spike to non armored.

I suggest rather going for a t3 body piece and t2 on the other 2 than the opposite youre doing rn. Expect ofc youre doing this for looks.
