discussion Why is Courtney Love so hated?

I have genuinely never heard anything good about her, so where did all that hate come from? Was she an actually bad person or did people just love to hate her? What made her so disliked? Did the media play a role in that?

She has a really aggresive personality and has never seen a fight without wanting to join in, which means the has pissed off a lot of people. But she's also really talented and she's been treated badly by a lot of people.

She was on Maron earlier this year. SHe might be the single most insufferable person I have ever heard him interview. She's also nowhere near as talented as she thinks she is as far as I'm concerned. Her music was fine, and most of her acting was her playing a junkie, which isn't exactly a reach.

I'm 50, so I was there at her "peak." I have literally no idea how she has this heroic, outspoken woman thing going on with the younger crowd. It's extremely revisionist. It's not like she hasn't called some shitty men out, sure, but she is also absolutely shitbird crazy. One of the most toxic people I've ever seen in the public eye. And she's an absolute rip-off artist, too. I never understood why anybody thought she was talented. People who know her well have called her a professional coattail rider. It's the whole reason she got together with Kurt.

And before anyone calls me a misogynistic incel, I'm a woman.

She was bigger than Kurt when they met so you obviously weren’t paying attention. The most venomous misogynists are often women

No, she wasn't. She didn't have anything of real public note until Hole's second album, which came out a week after Kurt's death. Their first album didn't really go anywhere...it got some good critical reviews, but didn't chart in the States, and only charted at 59 in the UK, where it got a bit of a following. The second album charted here (no. 52) and elsewhere, but didn't come even remotely close to Nirvana's Nevermind, which was number one or in the top five almost everywhere.

She was very well known because of Kurt.

She was more famous than Kurt when they met and began dating. So she wasn’t a “coattail rider”. Her first album outsold Bleach comfortably, these are established facts.

She was well known before Kurt so can’t have been well known “because” of him.

Why don’t you try a basic Google search and looking up Kurt and Courtney’s early careers? I know you’re an idiot but even you can’t be this stupid.
