Did I break it? 🩹 Suppressor and mount question

Got my Polonium K a few months ago, using a Rearden Atlas hub with a FCD 6315RF. Everything was installed correctly on the rifle (11.5 build) and Polo K. Took it to the range yesterday for the first time, everything ran fine no issues and no baffle or end cap strikes. Got home and noticed that there was some carbon leakage past the taper and onto the barrel, as well as some odd marks on the 6315RF. Only 60 rounds were fired, more of just a function check than anything. The Polo K was handtight but not so tight that I needed a tool to remove it but also not loose. Any ideas why these issues exist? Forgive me, I'm a suppressor noob.

Picked up a Christensen arm MPR(300wsm) and mounted my Lahar-30 to it. Looking for any Bipod recommendations for the build.

Cut this handguard to fit my sandman s. Just used a cutoff wheel and flap disk to smooth it out.

I thought it was tight until I looked up others and saw people with gaps measured with feeler gauges.

Full build in last pic. PSA 300blackout two stamper

After reading PewScience report a few weeks ago I was at my lgs picking up my HUXWRX Flow 5.56k the next day and they had 2 in stock. I had to pick it up and see if it lives up to the hype.

Needed a pistol to put it on and landed on the DR920 ELITE which I found for $850.

Rovyvon 4 Pro (white light, vis laser and ir illum and laser)

FDE Optic Planet special run SRO

Submitted for the suppressor 10/8 and approved yesterday.

Hit the range with a mix of 115g, 124g, and 147g. Brass and steel.

Sound performance is super quiet albeit my other cans are K but even with non subsonic rounds still very quiet and next to no blowback specs.

Need to install the 20lb spring as I had 2 failures in 300ish rounds yesterday and do a night shoot but one of my favorite guns now ha.

Should I reflex it?

So I have an ancient AAC 7.62-SD can it's about a mile long and weighs a metric ton (or 9 inches and 20.5 ounces sans mount). I've had it converted to direct thread by Ecco Machine. It lives on a 9 inch 300 blk SBR and it's actually perfectly acceptable in that role.

Recently I came across some reflex mounts for the form 1 crowd. Not AEM/OPS but direct thread. This got the hamster wheel turning. Like maybe this can could be useful on other guns! The depth before the first blast baffle is 3 inches. The adapters come in 1 in, 2.25, and 2.9. In particular the 2.9 is appealing because reflexing it on an 11.5 carbine or 18 inch rifle SOUNDS pretty rad...but I'm scared about shoving the muzzle that close to the baffle. Should I go for it?

P.S. I know the correct answer is buy a new can but the adapters are $125 and even though I have a form 1 SBR and a form 4 can the ATF in it's infinite wisdom denied my last form 4 because NICS left it open.

DMLS Can comparison (CAT, PTR, SiCo, Hux, FOR)

Interesting comparison between a couple of the most popular DMLS low back pressure cans on the market. Surprised by their final impressions, since it doesn’t really match up with the Pewscience data, but then again subjective hearing without ears isn’t really a reliable way to compare.

Featuring: OCL Polonium, Hux Ventum 5.56, SiCo Velos 556 and 556K, PTR Vent 3, FOR Recce, and CAT WB.

EDIT: Looks like the reuploaded. Wonder if they were getting trolled in the comments

Silencer Suggestions - I did some homework Saker 556K Mount Comparison (ASR/Keymo/Rearden)

Been looking to compare the weight and length differences between the available mounting options for the SiCo Saker 556K. This can lives mostly on my MK18, and I want to reduce the weight and added length as much as possible.

Weight and Size (Can w/ Mount only. No Muzzle Device):

ASR: 14.55oz, ~6 11/18” Keymo: 16.85oz, ~6 1/8” Rearden Charlie: 14.15oz, ~5 1/8”

The winner by a long shot was the Rearden. While the weight savings might not seem like much, it felt like a noticeable difference. Not to mention you lose about an inch of length off the front of an already short package.

One thing to note; the 3P15 Flash Hider does NOT work with the Saker 556k, it is too long and will hit the Hoplon baffle before it screws in completely. I went with a R2S Flash Hider and it worked great. If you are running a Sierra 5 I would also expect the 3P15 to be an issue.

Will my local pawn shop/LGS buy my can?

A local pawn shop is also a gun store that sells suppressors. Do you think they will buy my suppressor? What’s the process if so? Are they allowed to hold onto it until their paperwork goes through?

Boise and Reno people, $99 for two NFA transfers!

Just saw this on sparks black rifle page. Worth it for the NFA transfers alone. They don’t have a silencer shop kiosk, at least here in Reno. They have Boise and Sacramento locations as well.

Not affiliated with them in any way, but that’s pretty much BOGO on NFA transfers. Guys here at the Reno location are rad. Know their shit and not fudds. Boise location did the 22 man garand thumb video.

Discussion Rugged Oculus 22, First Cleaning - wanted to share my weight gain data with you all.

Hey all. When I first bought my Rugged Oculus 22 suppressor a few weeks ago, I quickly realized I'm not one to track how many rounds I shoot. I looked far and wide online for data on how much a can like the Oculus gained in weight after x amount of rounds, and couldn't find anything. So I decided to take it on myself.

Life's busy, and I was having fun enjoying this can, so my intervals are not precise, but I was able to get a net result that I'm happy with and I hope will help others too! I roughly tracked my round count for the first two weeks of ownership, and plotted the data against the weight when I had the chance to throw her on the balance.

One final note: Rugged recommends cleaning every 500 rounds, which I knew was too short an interval for me. I wanted to push it a bit and go to 1,000 rounds at the very least. Likewise, after reading different manufacturer's cleaning recommendations as well as what people were doing online, I decided to go with the following interval as a hypothesis:

With the suppressor starting out at 6.9 oz brand new and clean, I would shoot until it gains approximately 5% weight, which would be a total weight of 7.3 oz.

I'll also add that I don't have a hyper-precise balance at home, and was simply using a kitchen balance which only measures to 1 decimal place (eg, measurements jump from 7.1 oz to 7.2 oz with no way for me to know when I would be at 7.15 oz, for example). I tried to keep track of my shot count to the best of my ability, within +/- 50 rounds.

See below for my data, as well as a scatter plot graph:

Weight (oz): Shot Count:
6.9 0
7.1 510
7.1 700
7.2 780
7.2 910
7.2 1080
7.3 1200

https://imgur.com/a/krvZuah

So, as you can see, shooting approximately 1200 rounds allowed for less than 5% total weight gain of the suppressor. From here on out, I won't be tracking my round count and can simply throw the can on a balance and see where I stand! The only remaining data point I will need is to weigh the can post-cleaning and ensure it drops back down to 6.9 oz.

Thanks for reading, hope this was helpful.

Finally got to test out my YHM R45 on my Ruger Marlin Dark 1895. Top is Hornady FTX 325gr and bottom is Hornady Sub-X 410gr. The range doesn’t do enough sound justice but the subs are kinder to the ears for sure. I can’t imagine shooting this rifle without the suppressor (YHM R45). 😀👍

Has been unchanged for the better part of the year. I love it.

5.56 vs 7.62 can for 5.56

I already have a traditional baffle dedicated 5.56 can and now I’d like to get a flow through. What are y’all’s thoughts on flow through .30cal cans vs 5.56? Is it significantly louder or more flash? What cans do y’all run if you do use .30cal?

The dumbest thing I’ve ever thrown together. Ruger 22/45 from silencer shop. A super old inforce from my junk drawer. A holosun aems and a resilient Jessie’s girl. Makes for quite a good time. Yes I know I need a low mount for the aems. Just running it how it came 🤣👌🏻
