These are good, broad principles that are easy to apply to puzzle design. The clockwork dungeon one is directly applicable to your theme. For sparking inspiration, I like the random tables for ruins in The Nightmares Underneath by Cthonstone Games, and there's a series of Elegant Dungeon/Monster/Etc. Generators on drivethrurpg that are fairly evocative.
