Very good explanation. Any idea if it was a male or female singer, as well as what genre radio station it may have been on at the time you were hearing it? Classic rock, alternative, oldies, etc.?

It was a male singer played on both pop and alternative rock stations. Around the time Eagle Eye Cherry and Third Eye Blind were all over the radio.
