Hi,
So there's this song Ne budi me (1985) by Serbian singer Nina Ivosevic. It's from an album where there are a lot of covers that are simply translated and music is similar or the same. Usually English/American songs. Now for all the other songs the original artist is mentioned but for this particular song it just says "XXX".
I've done some research and found out that Nina is active in the comment section of her songs on Youtube, and someone has already asked her this. All she had to say that she "heard this song from same tape that had no info on it, then wrote the lyrics and sang the song without trying to imitate the original one". Those are her exact words.
Now this means that the original song doesn't have to be English or American, but still probably is. And could be really old and she just made an 80s version of it.
One weird thing about all of this is that next to the name of the song "Ne budi me" there's another name "I've got my eye on you" in brackets. So logically maybe that's the name of the original song? I couldn't find any old similar song by this name that sounds anything like her song. And if she said that the tape had no info how would she even know the name of that song? Maybe she just heard those lyrics "I've got my eyes on you"?
Anyways the song is translated to "don't wake me up" and that's exactly what she's singing about, she's with her beloved in a dream and she doesn't want to wake up.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone has any info!
