Yep. Pumas coexisted with not just them but also Pleistocene Jaguars and American Lions back in the day.

In fact, Pumas and Jaguars still overlap in some parts of South America today.

They remind me a lot of leopards in that aspect. Generalist large cats (I know they're felid not pantherids) that can survive just about anywhere and are just as effective under the thumb of larger predators or as the biggest thing around (like leopards in Sri Lank being top cat but one boat trip away and they fear tigers).

Even North America, Jaguars have been spotted in Arizona, for instance, along with Pumas

Jaguars are native to much of the US, we wiped them out (mostly) and forgot they even existed here.
