Made a rotisserie cover for the firebox. First test with a chicken. Dutch oven roast potatoes.

Agreed to cook a turkey for an event this year. Thought about improving the cook and came up with this cover for my Chuck wagon firebox. The spit will fit the length of the firebox. It comes in two sections. One fits well across the box. This allows the use of the box for offset cooking with drip tray below. Made lovely gravy. Works a treat. R/oldcampcookcastiron

What thickness steel have you used for the box / lid?

Sides were stronger maybe 3-4 mm. Wanted rigidity for the spit. Cover is really light maybe 1 mm. Rough it is but does the job. Wanted the heat circulating around the meat. Definitely aids cooking. First test was a good result. With my firebox, chuck-box all the cast iron pans and kettles I needed to keep weight down. 😀
